What if I did not come to the General meeting held on Feb 20th, can I
still come to tryouts? Yes,
please come to tryouts on March 31st at the San Leandro High School Pool.
Please check the Events tab for exact times per age group.
When will I find out if my child made the team? Our
coaches will let the children and families know if they made team right
after tryouts on March 31st
Does my child need to know how to swim to join the team? We
are a competitive swim team and your child should be able to stay afloat
and not be afraid of the water.
What is the commitment? During
the school season, all swimmer are required to attend 3 practice
sessions, after school is out, swimmers 11 years and up are required to
attend 4 practice sessions. Swim meets begin the last Saturday of
May and will continue until the end of July with the East Bay Swim
League Championship Meet.
How long are the Swim Meets? Warm
ups begin at 7:30 am, the meets start at 8:00 am and usually last 4 to 5
hours. Please go to the Events tab for dates and places of our
meets
What if my Family is going on vacation during the summer?
Please let us know if you cannot make a given meet, forms are at the
front desk. The team depends on all swimmers for each meet.
What is the Parent Involvement? In
order to run a swim meet efficiently we need the help of all
parents. Parents will be required to work a minimum of eight
hours per child during the swim season. Job Shifts at each
meet are generally two hour shifts. Parents of swimmers competing
in the Championship Meet are required by the league to work one shift at
the Championship Meet. The San Leandro Swim Team is an
organization run for and by the team members. Since we don't hire
out help, parent participation in fulfilling their volunteer hours is
critical to the success of the team!
When does practice start? On
April 1st, please check back for exact times per age group
When does summer practice start? On
or around June 16th, please check back as the season begins for updated
information.
What is the Registration Fee?
Boys & Girls who swim on both High School & summer league - $190
for all others: first swimmer ($240), second swimmer in family
($245), 3rd swimmer in family ($145)
Are we getting new swim suits? New
swim suits for the 2008 season. Please
contact Tina Naito, she will assist you in ordering the swimsuit.
What is Champs? On July 26th,
all teams that are affiliated with the East Bay Swim League (EBSL) are
invited to compete in the East Bay Swim League Championships. The
Drowning Darryls are part of the EBSL. Each team can only take 100
swimmers per team. There are a total of 12 teams with the
EBSL.
